Our Story

Woolly Comforts is a family business, owned and run by us, Stuart & Jayne, alongside our three daughters, Meg, Elle & Phoebe.

On a winter's evening around a cosy pub table, out for the evening to celebrate our daughter's birthday, we were discussing and pondering on a suitable name for our diversification idea, on which Woolly Comforts was born!

We have been farming a flock of sheep for 27 years, dotted around the beautiful Suffolk countryside, which we are most fortunate to live and work in! On our farm we also have free-range egg units and a few calves which are bought in each year.

The tanning process takes place in Britain's oldest established sheepskin tannery, Devonia. Located on the edge of beautiful Dartmoor, using traditional processing techniques and equipment, they have been tanning for over 200 years. After the initial salting and curing stage of the skins, which we do ourselves, the whole process then takes approximately 12 weeks, finishing and producing a luxurious product. Working on our lambskins with the Devonia team is a pleasure as they really are highly skilled craftsmen! It has to be said, trips down to Dartmoor are such a huge perk at the end of a long journey (so many lovely sheep and ponies dotted around a gorgeous landscape; heaven to a sheep farmer!)

Woolly Comforts can be found attending various country shows throughout spring and summer alongside autumn and Christmas events. We love meeting our customers and the opportunity to introduce not only our cosy soft furnishings, but also ourselves and our story.

As a farming family we take great pride and passion in British farming, our livestock and our business. We look forward to sharing our journey with you and providing memorable gifts for homes up and down the country!
